DEUS in Milan

Just after the EICMA fair, I went in the middle of Milan to attend the official presentation of the brand DEUS.

It is an Australian customizing workshop I have always liked, because I reckon they have very good aesthetic zest.

All their graphics are sophisticated and translate well on clothing and gadgetry alike, for a global marketing strategy.

The motorbikes used for their transformations are always the same: the Kawasaki W650 (the one I have), the Yamaha SR400 (utterly absent from the Italian shores) and lately the HD Sportster (I've got this one too).

So I like where they start from and where they end out, but the problem is the price: I'm not sure if it has something to do with the distance from Australia, but 16.000 Euro for a 400 cc mono bike is quite steep.

If you think a Borile or a CR&S Vun are less expensive and they are original handcrafted bikes and not only transformations of mainstream products, it doesn't make sense.

The people importing DEUS bikes ( www.officinemermaid.com ) are also selling other brands I really like: the Zero Engineering's Samurai Chopper and the Italian Zaeta.

These are all very expensive bikes I confine to my dream list, but it still makes me happy to see somebody who believe in this products and invest on them.

Reverting to DEUS, in January they will open a dedicated show-room with attached pub, to try and capture the full Aussie experience, albeit with the Milan fog as a backdrop.

Appena usciti dall'EICMA, ci siamo fiondati nel centro di Milano per presenziare alla presentazione ufficiale del marchio DEUS.

Si tratta di un preparatore australiano che mi è sempre piaciuto, ritengo che abbiano un gusto estetico particolarmente sviluppato. 

Le loro grafiche sono sofisticate e traghettano efficacemente su abbigliamento e accessori, per dar vita ad una strategia di marketing articolata e coerente.

Le moto che usano come base per le trasformazioni sono sempre le stesse: la Kawasaki W650 (quella che ho anch'io), la Yamaha SR400 (mai vista in Italia) ed ultimamente la HD Sportster (pure questa ce l'ho).

Quindi condivido il punto di partenza e mi piace dove arrivano, ma l'unico problema è il prezzo: non so se è dovuto al fatto che l'Australia sia lontana, ma 16.000 Euro per un mono da 400 cc è davvero tanto.

Se pensiamo che una Borile oppure una CR&S Vun costano meno e sono pezzi unici, artigianali e non prodotti industriali modificati con gusto, è difficile giustificare questo prezzo.

La stessa organizzazione che importa le DEUS ( www.officinemermaid.com ) commercializza altri marchi che mi affascinano: le Samurai Chopper della Zero Engineering e l'italiana Zaeta.

Sono tutte moto particolarmente costose che relego alla mia lista dei sogni, ma sono contento di vedere qualcuno che crede in questi prodotti quanto basta per investirci dei soldi.

Tornando alla DEUS, in gennaio aprirà lo show-room dedicato, con pub annesso, per cercare di restituire le atmosfere australiane, pur sullo sfondo delle nebbie milanesi.
