Q: Has this Seven ownership resulted in a positive experience?
A: Yes, because despite all of the issues the car is fantastic.
Each time you drive it you are facing a special event and you know you are a lucky bastard just for the looks you get on the road.
Then you think about all the people who are staring and you realize most of them are just intrigued by the unusual shape of the car, they have no idea about how good it is to drive.
So you feel doubly privileged, because the aspect of the car is the last of it's charms, believe me.
This is not a car for posers, there are many others options which are much more comfortable if you want that, this is a car that has to be driven hard.
Good manners in a car like this, just like in bed, are going to spoil all the fun.
I was in Premana for work yesterday, and I fully enjoyed each of the 110 km on the road.
The pictures enclosed where taken up in the mountains and in Lecco on the way back; these are rare pictures because I bet you haven't seen many Sevens with the hood up.
It is called the all-weather equipment, and it's considered an optional on this car: it comprises windshield, wipers, doors and hood.
If you throw in also the heater (that too an optional), the Seven makes for a plausible winter car, though I really look forward to take the hood off and enjoy the summer.
Q: Is it possible to live with a Caterham as your only car?
A: It is possible only if you are brave and determined enough, and if you can count on another vehicle, a motorbike will suffice, just to fill in the gaps when the Caterham will let you down.
Q: Would I recommend the Seven to other people?
A: NO, if you are really interested in the Seven you will just know it, if you are in doubt it's not the car for you.
Suggesting such a car would be stupid because very few people share my same priorities and the Seven is tailored for these few enthusiasts.
This is no Porsche and will not try to make everybody happy!
It's the no compromise machine, from 1957.

Risposta: SI, perché nonostante i suoi difetti è una macchina fantastica.
Ogni volta che la guidi è un'evento speciale, solo per come ti guardano per strada ti senti un privilegiato.
Poi pensi a questa gente che ti fissa e ti rendi conto che la maggior parte di loro sono intrigati dall'aspetto della Seven, ma non hanno nessuna idea di quanto sia piacevole da guidare.
A questo punto ti senti doppiamente privilegiato, perché l'aspetto è l'ultima delle qualità di una Seven, credetemi.
Questa non è una macchina per fighetti, ce ne sono molte altre per questo e sono anche molto più comode, questa è un'auto che va pilotata con violenza e abbandono.
Le buone maniere e gli scrupoli su un'auto di questo tipo, proprio come fra le lenzuola, finiscono per rovinare la festa.
Ieri ero a Premana per lavoro e mi sono goduto ciascuno dei 110 chilometri percorsi.
Le immagini che allego sono state scattate sulle montagne limitrofe e sul lungolago di Lecco al mio ritorno; sono foto inconsuete, perché scommetto che non Vi sarà capitato spesso di vedere immagini di una Seven con la capote.
Lo chiamano equipaggiamento ogni-tempo ed è considerato un'optional su quest'auto: comprende il parabrezza, i tergicristalli, le porte e la capottina.
Se ci aggiungete il riscaldamento (anche lui optional), la Seven si trasforma in un'auto invernale abbastanza plausibile; ciò non toglie che non veda l'ora di arrotolare la capote e godermi l'estate.
Domanda: è possibile considerare la Caterham come la propria unica auto?
Risposta: è possibile solo a patto che siate coraggiosi e determinati a sufficienza; solo se potete contare almeno su un'altro veicolo, basterebbe una moto da usare in quei giorni in cui la Seven vi lascerà a piedi.
Domanda: Raccomanderei la Seven a qualcun altro?
Risposta: NO, se siete veramente interessati lo sapete e basta, se non siete sicuri la macchina non fa per Voi.
Suggerire un'auto di questo genere è stupido, perché pochissime persone condividono i miei stessi valori e la Seven è fatta su misura per questi rari fanatici.
Non è una Porsche e non cerca di accontentare tutti!
E' l'auto senza compromessi, fin dal 1957.
